EDF Follows Other Energy Giants With Energy Bill Hike

Energy company EDF has announced that its 3 million domestic customers will see a 10.8% rise in gas and electricity prices from 7th December. The announcement was met with disapproval from Downing Street who labelled the rise “very disappointing”.

An interesting BBC article shows how EDF seems to have followed the lead of  other energy giants who all have announced gas and electricity energy price rises recently, on occasion within days of one another. They include British Gas (6%), Npower (Gas 8.8% , Electricity 9.1%), SSE (9%) and Scottish Power (7%).

Honorable mention to E.On however – the only big company to buck the trend and announce no price rise upto the end of the year.
