UK is the Top Exporter Across the Globe

According a report revealed by Google and OC&C Strategy Consultants, UK is the top exporter in the world. The country exported online goods that cost £0.6bn more than it actually imported. This figure is way ahead of US which only earned £109.6m ($180m) and Germany which gained £21.3m ($35m).

According to Global Retail E-mpire, the e-commerce market will increase five times in 2020 from $25bn last 2013. This is based on Google searches from six largest ecommerce markets – Germany, France, UK, Nordics, Netherlands and US.

The increase of people who have access to Internet and the confidence of customers to online stores makes e-commerce the ideal business for aspiring entrepreneurs these days.

Localisation is also a contributing factor to the success of e-commerce enterprises. The local thinking of business owners is essential to reach the new demands of customers, to develop marketing strategies and to improve delivery and payment methods for the convenience of buyers.

Experts believe distance should not be considered a dilemma by thousands of businesses in UK. E-commerce giants such as Ebay and Amazon have overcome the challenge as Internet provides numerous opportunities to reach their audience. According to Alex Von Schirmeister, vice-president of Ebay, more than 95 percent of British enterprises in Ebay of all sizes, are exporting across the globe. In fact, Ebay earned over $11 billion in the second part of 2013 due to overseas trade.
