Supermarkets Lead Petrol Price Cuts

A number of leading supermarkets are lowering petrol costs following a reduction in the wholesale cost of fuel, says this Sky News report.

Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco all reduced pump prices by 2p – however other retailers have stayed rather more tight lipped leading Paul Watters (head of AA public affairs) to complain “Unless the rest of the market reflects the lower cost, it’s a case of the same old story – prices up like a rocket, falling like a feather.”

Hard to argue when only last week the wholesale price of petrol dropped by 4p leaving a lot of motorists wondering exactly why the drop has not been reflected in pumps up and down the country.
