Greece To Be Granted Bailout Extension

This BBC article reveals that debt troubled Greece is to be allowed additional time to hit its agreed bailout targets.

While the specifics of just how much more time has been allowed have not been disclosed, Greece’s Finance Minister, Yiannis Stournaras, said to MPs “Today, we obtained the extension.”

The country has seen widespread riots spill over onto the streets as crippling austerity measures have resulted in widespread redundancies, while those still in work have protested through general strikes that has brought the country to a standstill.

Some breathing space will be met with some relief by the Greek government, if only sparsely, as failure to meet the bailout conditions would result in the country missing out on the next tranche of bailout funds amounting to 31.5bn Euros.
