While the UK coalition government appears to be pushing for private sector growth, the recent closure of the Business Link department has left some SMEs, and those looking to potentially start up a company, somewhat puzzled.
The Business Link provided valuable face to face advice to SMEs and a recent survey (conducted by Cobweb) had discovered that since the Business Link closure, half of the business support organizations surveyed reported significantly greater calls for help from startups and small businesses.
Colin Weatherspoon who is MD for cobweb said “There is a considerable amount of support out there for startups and small businesses, despite the closure of Business Link, however the providers of that support are struggling to meet demand due to a lack of funding.”
