BIA/Kelsey has revealed that US social media ads are already worth $4.6bn in 2012. However, it would appear to be just the tip of the iceberg as social media ad revenues are poised to reach $9bn within the next four years.
Many marketers are quite split over the impact of social media ads, with one half believing it to be the future of advertising, and the other half claiming that it doesn’t work. The report also highlights the growth of social mobile marketing, which is expected to treble within four years. The industry is currently worth $500m.
