SME’s Cautious With Fundraising

A study from YouGov has revealed that under 25% of the 800 SME’s surveyed said they will be looking to raise finance in 2013. The major reason for the reluctance to raise finance is uncertainty about the economic climate both at home and in Europe.

From the cluster of companies who said they would consider raising finance, over half said they would do so via the traditional bank route, and 31% opting for the venture capital or private equity route. The survey has prompted some commentators to suggest that the credit markets are struggling due to a lack of demand, and not only a lack of cash supply from the banks.
